Charging Time from Minimum Resistance Solution

STEP 0: Pre-Calculation Summary
Formula Used
Charging Time = Minimum Resistance for Charging Time*Capacitance of Charging Time
tc = Rct*Cct
This formula uses 3 Variables
Variables Used
Charging Time - (Measured in Second) - Charging time is the time required to charge a particular device.
Minimum Resistance for Charging Time - (Measured in Ohm) - Minimum Resistance for Charging Time is the minimum resistance of the circuit.
Capacitance of Charging Time - (Measured in Farad) - Capacitance of Charging Time is the ratio of the amount of electric charge stored on a conductor to a difference in electric potential.
STEP 1: Convert Input(s) to Base Unit
Minimum Resistance for Charging Time: 270 Ohm --> 270 Ohm No Conversion Required
Capacitance of Charging Time: 0.07 Farad --> 0.07 Farad No Conversion Required
STEP 2: Evaluate Formula
Substituting Input Values in Formula
tc = Rct*Cct --> 270*0.07
Evaluating ... ...
tc = 18.9
STEP 3: Convert Result to Output's Unit
18.9 Second --> No Conversion Required
FINAL ANSWER
18.9 Second <-- Charging Time

How the spark is produced in Electric Discharge Machining ?

A typical circuit used for supplying the power to an EDM machine is named as the relaxation circuit. The circuit consists of a DC power source, which charges the capacitor ‘C’ across a resistance ‘Rc’. Initially when the capacitor is in the uncharged condition, when the power supply is on with a voltage of Vo, a heavy current, ic, will flow in the circuit as shown to charge the capacitor. The relaxation circuit as explained above was used in the early EDM machines. They are limited to the low material removal rates for fine finish, which limits its application. This can be explained from the fact that the time spent on charging the capacitor is quite large during which time, no machining can actually take place. Thus the material removal rates are low.

How to Calculate Charging Time from Minimum Resistance?

Charging Time from Minimum Resistance calculator uses Charging Time = Minimum Resistance for Charging Time*Capacitance of Charging Time to calculate the Charging Time, Charging time from minimum resistance is defined as the time required to charge a particular sparking relaxation circuit of EDM. Charging Time is denoted by tc symbol.
