STEP 0: Pre-Calculation Summary
Formula Used
Critical Capacitance = Duty Cycle/(2*Frequency*Resistance)
Cx = D/(2*f*R)
This formula uses 4 Variables
Variables Used
Critical Capacitance - (Measured in Farad) - Critical capacitance is minimum value of capacitance in order to have a continuous current in the inductor and, therefore, maintain good regulation.
Duty Cycle - A Duty cycle or power cycle is the fraction of one period in which a signal or system is active in a voltage regulator circuit.
Frequency - (Measured in Hertz) - Frequency is the frequency at which a voltage regulator circuit or system tends to oscillate in the absence of any driving or damping force.
Resistance - (Measured in Ohm) - Resistance is a measure of the opposition to current flow in any voltage regulator circuit. Its S.I unit is ohm.
STEP 1: Convert Input(s) to Base Unit
Duty Cycle: 0.21 --> No Conversion Required
Frequency: 35 Hertz --> 35 Hertz No Conversion Required
Resistance: 10.1 Ohm --> 10.1 Ohm No Conversion Required
STEP 2: Evaluate Formula
Substituting Input Values in Formula
Cx = D/(2*f*R) --> 0.21/(2*35*10.1)
Evaluating ... ...
Cx = 0.000297029702970297
STEP 3: Convert Result to Output's Unit
0.000297029702970297 Farad -->297.029702970297 Microfarad (Check conversion here)
FINAL ANSWER
297.029702970297 297.0297 Microfarad <-- Critical Capacitance

Explain Boost regulator?

The boost regulator circuit has many similarities to the buck regulator. However the circuit topology for the boost regulator is slightly different. The fundamental circuit for a boost converter or step up converter consists of an inductor, diode, capacitor, switch and error amplifier with switch control circuitry.
The circuit for the step-up boost converter operates by varying the amount of time in which inductor receives energy from the source.

In the basic block diagram the operation of the boost regulator can be seen that the output voltage appearing across the load is sensed by the sense / error amplifier and an error voltage is generated that controls the switch.
Typically the boost converter switch is controlled by a pulse width modulator, the switch remaining on of longer as more current is drawn by the load and the voltage tends to drop and often there is a fixed frequency oscillator to drive the switching.

How to Calculate Critical Value of Capacitor for Boost Regulator?

Critical Value of Capacitor for Boost Regulator calculator uses Critical Capacitance = Duty Cycle/(2*Frequency*Resistance) to calculate the Critical Capacitance, The Critical value of capacitor for Boost regulator formula is defined as the minimum value of capacitance in order to have a continuous current in the inductor and, therefore, maintain good regulation. Critical Capacitance is denoted by Cx symbol.

How to calculate Critical Value of Capacitor for Boost Regulator using this online calculator? To use this online calculator for Critical Value of Capacitor for Boost Regulator, enter Duty Cycle (D), Frequency (f) & Resistance (R) and hit the calculate button. Here is how the Critical Value of Capacitor for Boost Regulator calculation can be explained with given input values -> 3E+8 = 0.21/(2*35*10.1).
