Maximum Gas Pressure Inside Engine Cylinder Solution

STEP 0: Pre-Calculation Summary
Formula Used
Maximum Gas Pressure inside Cylinder = 10*Indicated Mean Effective Pressure
pmax = 10*pimep
This formula uses 2 Variables
Variables Used
Maximum Gas Pressure inside Cylinder - (Measured in Pascal) - Maximum gas pressure inside cylinder is the maximum amount of pressure that can be generated inside the cylinder.
Indicated Mean Effective Pressure - (Measured in Pascal) - Indicated mean effective pressure is the average pressure obtained in the combustion chamber during the entire working cycle.
STEP 1: Convert Input(s) to Base Unit
Indicated Mean Effective Pressure: 0.36 Megapascal --> 360000 Pascal (Check conversion here)
STEP 2: Evaluate Formula
Substituting Input Values in Formula
pmax = 10*pimep --> 10*360000
Evaluating ... ...
pmax = 3600000
STEP 3: Convert Result to Output's Unit
3600000 Pascal -->3.6 Megapascal (Check conversion here)
FINAL ANSWER
3.6 Megapascal <-- Maximum Gas Pressure inside Cylinder
(Calculation completed in 00.004 seconds)

7 Bore and Length of Engine Cylinder Calculators

Indicated Mean Effective Pressure
Go Indicated Mean Effective Pressure = Indicated Power of Engine*60/(Number of Working Strokes per Minute*Stroke Length of Piston*Cross Sectional Area of Engine Cylinder)
Gas Force Acting on Cylinder Cover
Go Gas Force on Cylinder Cover = (pi*Inner Diameter of Engine Cylinder^2)/4*Maximum Gas Pressure inside Cylinder
Maximum Gas Pressure Inside Engine Cylinder
Go Maximum Gas Pressure inside Cylinder = 10*Indicated Mean Effective Pressure
Length of Engine Cylinder given Cylinder Bore
Go Length of engine cylinder = 1.725*Inner Diameter of Engine Cylinder
Bore of Engine Cylinder given Length
Go Inner Diameter of Engine Cylinder = Length of engine cylinder/1.725
Stroke Length of Engine given Length of Cylinder
Go Stroke Length of Piston = Length of engine cylinder/1.15
Length of Engine Cylinder given Stroke Length
Go Length of engine cylinder = 1.15*Stroke Length of Piston

Maximum Gas Pressure Inside Engine Cylinder Formula

Maximum Gas Pressure inside Cylinder = 10*Indicated Mean Effective Pressure
pmax = 10*pimep

4 Stroke Engine cycle

With the inlet valve opening, the piston first descends on the intake stroke. An ignitable mixture of gasoline vapor and the air is drawn into the cylinder by the partial vacuum thus created. The mixture is compressed as the piston ascends on the compression stroke with both valves closed. As the end of the stroke is approached, the charge is ignited by an electric spark. The power stroke follows, with both valves still closed and the gas pressure, due to the expansion of the burned gas, pressing on the piston head or crown. During the exhaust stroke, the ascending piston forces the spent products of combustion through the open exhaust valve. The cycle then repeats itself. Each cycle thus requires four strokes of the piston—intake, compression, power, and exhaust—and two revolutions of the crankshaft.
